This is Steven here.....I hope this blog post finds you safe and well. I was humbled recently when the Broward County Legal Aid named him as pro bono attorney of the month for June 2020. When Covid-19 entered our lexicon in March, I decided that it was a good time and opportunity to offer pro bono (free) legal services offering healthcare surrogate designation documents to Legal Aid clients who were worried about falling ill or being unable to make medical decisions for themselves during the pandemic.
Having a health care agent in place is very important if you are unable to make medical decisions for yourself. Without such a designation in place, you or your loved ones run the risk of needing to get court approval through a guardianship proceeding in order to make or get access to medical information.
